Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Field Test Technician to join our dynamic Electrical Power Services team. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects involving the safe and efficient installation and testing of electrical power distribution equipment across a diverse client base. As an Electrical Field Test Technician, you will travel approximately 25% of the time and will have the chance to work both independently and as part of a skilled team, managing and executing a variety of electrical testing tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up activities, and collect data on electrical systems.
Supervise and mentor trainees, assistants, and technicians, ensuring quality and consistency across testing processes.
Track the progress of projects, communicating updates to both internal management and clients.
Maintain, repair, and test low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and related equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair automatic transfer switches and inspect cable installations.
Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical relays, perform relay calibration, and conduct power metering.
Conduct motor control center and contractor testing, as well as start-up and troubleshooting of generator controls and transfer schemes.
Perform testing and commissioning of protection and control systems on high-voltage substations.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations by completing Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock hazard assessments.
Prepare and submit detailed project reports, timecards, and expense reports.
Rotate emergency on-call duty and adhere to regulatory safety standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical testing.
Experience working in team environments and on multi-phase projects.
Knowledgeable in NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards and NFPA 70E Electrical Safety standards.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical performance issues, including ground faults.
Ability to travel regionally (approximately 25% of the time).
Familiar with lockout/tag-out procedures and hazardous energy control.
Clean driving record and drug-free.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hold NETA Level 2, NICET equivalent, or possess relevant experience.
Familiarity with NETA testing standards and procedures is highly desirable.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary range: $72,800 – $114,000, depending on experience and location.
