Overview
A Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing preventative maintenance, repair services, and commissioning support on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems. The Field Service Engineer is required to have a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and components, as well as a fundamental understanding of the tools and processes required to complete system maintenance and repair activities.
A Field Service Engineer is responsible for delivering high quality service and customer satisfaction, as well as, working well with the team and providing support/coverage as per business needs.
What you will do…
Instrument, CT, PT, and CPT transformer Testing
Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breaker Testing
Familiarity with Switchgear Start-up and commissioning
Power Transformer testing – Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, Winding Resistance, etc.
Demonstrate an understanding of a one-line diagram
Must be able to work safety and adhere to all electrical safety core principals and procedures.
Demonstrate the ability learn applicable business systems, complete all administrative responsibilities, and meet established deadlines.
Service reports – enter all pertinent job information (e.g., customer, time, actions taken, expenses)
Business expense and receipt submittal for approval and processing
Timesheet submission in an accurate and timely manner for approval
Satisfactory completion of internal safety audit
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to complete all on-boarding training requirements and annual retraining as needed
Familiarity with electrical test equipment and hand tools
Familiarity with CX Alloy, Power DB or similar software’s
Basic Electrical Safety Training
CPR / First Aid / AED training
Arc Flash/PPE training
What you will need to succeed…
Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent presentation skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook applications
High school diploma or GED required. Prefer an associate degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Technology or graduated from an accredited 4-year electrical apprenticeship program OR similar experience and training from the Military.
2-3 Plus years of experience withing electrical testing field
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate in an effective and professional manner with internal and external clients
Ability to work independently without close supervision
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet customer requirements.
Ability and willingness to review emails/answer calls periodically on the weekend
Some travel is required. Willingness to travel outside of assigned territory, including overnight stays, as necessary to meet customer requirements.
Prefer OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, and CPR/First Aid, company can/will provide the above safety training.
Must live or be willing to move to within a 90-minute drive of service coverage area.
NICET Certification a plus. Would require becoming a NICET level 1 within first 12 months of joining the organization.
IR Certification a plus. Would require acquiring IR certification within the first 12 months of joining the organization.
Job related military service (e.g., Naval Nuclear Electricians Mate, Air Force Power Production Technician, Prime Power, USMC 1300, 2800, 5900) Technical School Certification or directly related field experience with Power Control Systems, or other low and medium voltage power applications.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings
Ability to read and understand electrical one-line diagrams
Ability to use appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose problem
